Jackson Browne - Fountain of Sorrow

fountain of sorrow

But when you see through love's illusions, there lies the danger
And your perfect lover just looks like a perfect fool
So you go running off in search of a perfect stranger
While the loneliness seems to spring from your life
Like a fountain from a pool

Michael: yeah it is a sad song

but its good

here is another one

Jackson Browne - Late for the Sky

Now for me some words come easy
But I know that they don't mean that much
Compared with the things that are said when lovers touch
You never knew what I loved in you
I don't know what you loved in me
Maybe the picture of somebody you were hoping I might be

Jackson is big time deep

Serious deep cut, especially for the chick crying her eyes out next to me in yoga yesterday. This song is beautiful...love the cover. Lo siento for the sparse posts!

A Common Burn...

Mazzy Star - Common Burn

After this weekend, we could all use another cut :/

This one however doesn't strike me as sad, just extremely relaxing. Fuck Lunesta, turn this one on and you'll be dreaming in no time.  Hope you like it as much as I do.

GREAT recent posts by the way guys, I really love those songs!

Heyday cuts

Mic Christopher - Heyday ~ My first post! This song was used in Guinness commercials - perfect combo for late night heart to hearts - a drink, a good song and better friends...during our heyday:

Third Eye Blind - The Background - An oldie but deeepy. Not only an amazing song, but a local favorite "I walk Haight street to the store" This one gives me chills every time kidz, deeep.

Latest Obsession...

A Kiwi named Gin Wigmore. Found her from some new commercial earlier this week. She has a few good songs. Sounds a little like Duffy.
Dying Day (if the title alone doesn't scream Deep Cut, then I don't know what does....)

Back to the ER with this one...

Joss Stone - Drive All Night - ..get the cut reference in the title? too far?...She has such an incredible tone and style, but sometimes her songs get a little too "funky" for my taste melodically. This one is exactly where I love her though, effortless and the perfect tempo. Make sure to listen the whole way through cuz I think it gets better as it goes on, especially once the ad-libs and background vocals become more prominent. Keep the posts comin'!

doolin' dalton

my friend mikey would sing this song on repeat when depressed as hell in -20 degree chitown winter. definition of a deeep cut. please play once then go enjoy the beautiful california weather. god bless sf indian summer!

I'M FINALLY HEREEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Ok guys - due to my lack of knowledge that this bad boy actually was a dream made into a reality, I apologize for my delay in posting.

For my R&B mister from another sister - Cody - this is for you amigo.

Love me some Jill Scott - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSYMKUtNuw8

Excited About This One...

Slow Runner - Devil Moon ...Why you ask? Because I bet it will be new to most of you. I plan on submitting another Slow Runner cut down the road. My favorite lyric: "Roadside crickets try to turn up the charm" reminds me of driving down a highway on a hot summer night, what's deeeper than that?

Covers continue..

Thought I'd add this cover of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. Sad boy introduced me to Greg Laswell and his concert is actually exactly along the lines of Deeep Cuts.

Kelly, don't worry - we will be playing the fast more upbeat version on repeat on our 6 hour flight to MEXCIO!

More Adele and More British Willies

Sorry guys, thought I would continue on with the Adele kick, I can't help it. Perhaps I am a tad jealous of people who got to see her live this last weekend. Or maybe it was the willies I got this morning from Cody's post.

Adele - Promise This, that you will put this song on Itunes so I don't have to illegally get this jam. Great, thanks.

And now I'm giving you a twofer and make you listen to more Adele. This time covering Bonnie Rait's
I Can't Make You Love Me. This is on behalf of Colette who first introduced us to this cut, but has completely failed at adding any jams....Ok, fine, you've been busy vacationing!

And then shit got deeper...

I was driving home from Outside lands last night and this song came on...Made me yearn for starry nights and deeper cuts. Enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGwDYBWEDSc

Stuck on REPEAT

So, I've been thinking about Deeep Cuts pretty much all weekend all. Here's my latest OBSESSION and first addition to the blog. "Only One" Rival Sons http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pHydvehDUc

British Willies...

Adele - Turning Tables - ...Pretty sure that's what they use for "chills" because THEY SOUND LIKE THEY'RE FROM LONDON. If you haven't heard this song you are living under a rock, but listen again because it is my favorite Adele song and gives me the willies every time.

Guaranteed you have heard this song....

...BUT probably not this version. And that version was probably heard on 96.5 KOIT, Light Rock Less Talk. I think it's fair to say this one is better than the orig. Ennnnnnnjoyyyyyyy!

Fesit (with Constantines) - Islands in the Stream

Friday Afternoon pick me up

TW - I think it's time you get out of the woods. Here's a little CCR for you all on this everlasting friday afternoon.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ou7P0QX25IY

I'm up in the woods...

I've never posted on a blog before so no idea if this will even work, but i'll follow you're bon iver with my personal favorite of his. Woods!

Stacks on Stacks on Stacks

Bon Iver - Re: Stacks - Everyone knows Bon Iver these days, but only a select few of his songs get the majority of the attention. Re: Stacks isn't one of them, but it is my personal favorite and it's not just cuz of the line "when your money's gone and you're drunk as hell..." Great song to listen to when you're falling asleep in bed. If you don't own this cd BUY IT!

1st cut NOT the deeepest here, but it will do.... for now

Penny & The Quarters - You and Me - Friends, for my first cut, I'm bringing it back. And for this, we can all thank the most depressing movie of all time (Blue Valentine). So, whether or not you've seen the movie, I'm obsessed and you will be too.

PS- Apologies in advance as I already contributed this to our Deep Cut playlist under the real stars, but  I feel the need to put this in writing (....and to do so completely SOBER).

Tuesday, August 9, 2011

The 1st Cut is the Deeepest...

Ellie Goulding - Heartbeats (Cosmonaut Grechko edit) - Lame Sheryl Crow reference aside, it was SO hard to decide who/what to post as the first cut, but I am obsessed with this song (and seemingly everything this girl touches). Very jealous of any of you who get to see her at Outside Lands this weekend. This is a remix of a cover she has done of a song originally by Jose Gonzales. Hope it's not too slow for your taste. Just lay back, relax, look up at the stars, and enjoy!

*Caution: Deeep Cut, keep bandages nearby.

Deeep Cuts 1st posting!

Hey Ladies and Gents, I will keep this short and sweet...Welcome to Deeep Cuts!

I am working on figuring out how we can get multiple people access to posting. In the mean time when you have a cut that just can't wait send it to cody.morse@gmail.com and I will upload the song and whatever blurb you want with it. (make sure to include some type of link to play it too!) Now, on to the cuts...
